WASHINGTON — Virginia’s governor signed an extradition order to return Charles Severance to the commonwealth from West Virginia.
Alexandria police want to question Severance in connection with three high-profile murders over the last decade.
Police in Wheeling, W.Va., arrested him last week on a fugitive warrant for a charge of owning a firearm as a felon. The charge is in Loudoun County.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s extradition order would return Severance, 53, to Loudoun County.
Severance’s public defender has said Severance would fight the extradition.
An extradition hearing has been set for March 31 in West Virginia.
Alexandria police have not named Severance, a former mayoral candidate, a “person of interest” in the murders of RuthAnne Lodato, Ron Kirby and Nancy Dunning.
